Report impact highlights include more than 124,000 lives impacted across 14 Indian states and 2.5 multiple of additional capital raised
We are pleased to release the Unitus Ventures Impact Report for H1 (Jan-Jun) 2014. In summary, our portfolio companies are operating across 14 states in India, have created 305 jobs, and have touched over 1 lakh (124,000 to be precise) lives since we’ve made our investments over the past 2 years. From a financial perspective, our portfolio has generated nearly 2 times our investment amounts in revenue, and have received 2.5 times our seed capital in follow-on investments. In the first 6 months of 2014, our portfolio has grown to a total of 12 companies and has generated 3 times the impact from where we ended in December 2013. We’re well on the way to achieving sustainable and scaled impact in India, and we’re catalyzing other investors and the ecosystem to support our “BoP Startups”.
Unitus Ventures creates three types of impact, all of which are measured at company, sector, and fund level:
- Social – Portfolio companies have the potential to reach at least 100,000 BoP families in 5 years, and/or directly employ up to 1,000 BoP individuals in the same timeframe .
- Financial – We help investees get on the path to financial sustainability through increased revenues and further capital raised.
- Ecosystem – Every company benefits from, influences, and improves the functioning of the overall ecosystem.
